The First Song
The First Song. 2026.
The First Song is an original acrylic painting on canvas, inspired by the Ainulindalë, the creation myth at the beginning of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion.
The work explores the Music of the Ainur, the first song through which the vision of Arda begins to take form. Rather than attempting to illustrate the creation literally, the painting approaches it through atmosphere, movement and abstraction, allowing the emergence of the world to remain partly imagined.
Created in 2026, The First Song has been selected for the Beyond Bree 2027 Calendar, published to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Silmarillion.
