Forest of Neldoreth

Inspired by the ancient woodland realm of Neldoreth from Tolkien’s Beleriand, the painting approaches the forest not as a physical location, but as an atmosphere suspended between silence, memory, and fading myth.
 
Violet mist and pale light dissolve the boundaries between tree, shadow, and distance, transforming the landscape into something dreamlike and almost immaterial. The forest appears untouched by time - ancient, watchful, and quietly haunted by forgotten presence.
 
Rather than depicting a specific narrative moment, Forest of Neldoreth explores the emotional residue left behind by mythological places: the stillness before movement, the sacred quiet of old forests, and the fragile feeling that memory itself has become part of the landscape.
 
Balancing minimalism with atmosphere, the work reflects the contemplative direction of Gelekas’ evolving Middle-earth-inspired body of work.
